Christmas time in Darmstadt 2020
The Darmstadt Christmas Market is a popular destination each year. However, due to the current corona pandemic, the market cannot take place this year.
Cancellation of the Christmas market
With a heavy heart, the decision was made to cancel Darmstadt Christmas Market due to the currently very serious corona situation in the city as well as the resolutions of the federal government and the Hessian state government (October 2020) to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and to protect the population.
Christmas feeling while Christmas shopping
A winterly shopping atmosphere nevertheless is garanteed:Christmas lights in the shopping streets, the illumination of the Langer Ludwig and the Christmas trees on the market square, on Luisenplatz and Ludwigsplatz will ensure a special Christmas atmosphere in the city.
Did you know...
...that Darmstadt has a "Glühweinprinzessin" (mulled wine princess)? She is elected every year since 2011 and, among other things, presents the new motif of the mulled wine glasses at the opening of the Darmstadt Christmas Market. Have a look at the "Glühweinprinzessinnen" of the past years here.

Located at one of Darmstadt's most popular excursion destinations, directly opposite Hofgut Oberfeld, there are the well-known sausage specialties "Bratwurst, Currywurst, Paprika Sausage, Beef Sausage, Cheese Cracker, Scharfer Heiner" in proven quality. Brauns leathershop, with Thiemo and Elke Braun, is a family business that has been going to trade fairs and markets for 30 years.
From February 2021, the Braun's can be found on the Darmstadt weekly market every Saturday with bags, purses, suspenders, belts. From March, Wednesday will also be included. During the regular opening times of the weekly market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thiemo and Elke Braun offer the belt shortening and repair service with the applicable hygiene and distance rules. Orders can also be placed via WhatsApp and will then be sent by post or can be picked up at the stand at the weekly market. There is the option of contactless payment with all girocards that have an NFC chip.
