Discover the Mathildenhöhe with Future History

In 1899, Ernst Ludwig, the Grand Duke of Hesse, invited seven young Art Nouveau artists to the Mathildenhöhe. This marked the birth of the Darmstadt Artists’ Colony, which existed until 1914. In four large exhibitions, the artists displayed their visions of a modern, art-based world. The buildings together form the „Mathildenhoehe“. On the "Musenhügel", a document of the departure for modern forms of construction and housing grew - starting point for modern industrial design.

With the Mathildenhöhe App you go on a journey through time on Mathildenhöhe. Historical views are superimposed with current images and illustrate how the Mathildenhöhe developed during and after the Artists' Colony.
